Graduate Engineer Training (GET) Program
GET Placement Program Commences with Deployment of 600 Young Engineers
The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has commenced its flagship Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program, under which 600 young engineers have been placed in 40 national departments across the country. The engineers formally joined their respective organizations on Thursday, January 1, 2026. The fully PEC-funded, six-month program is structured as a “house job” style initiative aimed at bridging the gap between academic education and practical industry requirements, comprising five months of field exposure and one month of focused skill development, with a monthly stipend of PKR 50,000 provided to each trainee.
The engineers have been placed in a wide range of public sector institutions and organizations. These include the Planning and Development Departments of the governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Balochistan, as well as NESPAK, Local Government and Communication and Works departments of the Government of Punjab, National Grid Company (NGC), Pakistan Airports Authority, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), various power distribution companies, and other major public sector organizations.
Engr Waseem Nazir, Chairman PEC congratulated the young engineers upon joining the training and termed the commencement of the program a great day for engineers and the overall engineering community. He stated that hands-on experience gained through structured field exposure is essential for professional growth and plays a key role in preparing engineers to meet real-world challenges and contribute effectively to national development. He further added that a transparent digital balloting mechanism was introduced under the program to ensure fairness and merit-based selection of trainees.
Young engineers thanked the Pakistan Engineering Council and Governing Body for providing the opportunity, stating that the program offers valuable practical exposure and a pathway to develop professional skills, confidence, and readiness for future engineering roles.
