Pakistan Engineering Council & Chinese Society of Engineers Sign Landmark Mutual Recognition Agreement
Chengdu, China – Pakistan Engineering Council and the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE) formally executed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) that guarantees reciprocal recognition of professional engineering qualifications between Pakistan and China.

“This Agreement is a clear vote of confidence in Pakistan’s engineers,” said Engr Waseem Nazir. It will open doors for Pakistan’s young engineers, strengthen service-export revenues, and amplify Pakistan’s soft power on the global stage, particularly in the BRI member countries.
Salient Features of the MRA
• Reciprocal Qualification Recognition: Four-year bachelor’s degrees from PEC and CEEAA-accredited institutions, plus valid PEC/CSE registration, are recognized on reciprocal basis—no further exams required.
• Scope & Portability: Pakistani engineers gain provisional licensure in China (and vice versa) to contribute to infrastructure, energy, ICT, smart-city projects including other specialized areas of engineering disciplines.
• Compliance & Oversight: Engineers must adhere to local regulations, ethical codes, and professional standards; an annual review mechanism ensures ongoing alignment.
• Joint Implementation Framework: PEC–CSE working groups will manage credential verification, CPD programmes, and exchange opportunities.
